Bitcoin

With the rise of social media in this age, the primary way companies such as Facebook and Twitter made money is through selling advertising.

Using an advertiser-supported model rather than charging each user individually is the easiest way for Facebook to garner as many users as possible.

The more users on the site, the greater the number of advertisers willing to engage them and the more those advertisers are willing to spend.

Twitter has recently rolled out a bitcoin tipping and safety features in product push.

It will allow people to tip their favourite content creators with bitcoin and will launch a fund to pay some users who host audio chat rooms on its spaces feature.

It will also test new ways to help users have a safer experience on the social media app such as warning when people are entering a heated conversation or letting them leave tweet threads.

This is a part of an effort to compete with the rivals like Facebook and Google for popular content creators with large followings and turn around its image as a site where polarized discussions can fester.

If you are using an iOS device, then you can now send and receive digital payments, which was previously limited to a small group of testers.

This social media site is planning to support authentication for NFT (non-fungible tokens) which are digital assets such as images or videos that exist on a blockchain.

The NFTs are usually bought with the cryptocurrency Ether or dollars and the blockchain keeps a record of transactions.

While anyone can view the NFTs, the buyer has the status of being the official owner.

All types of digital objects like images, videos, music text and tweets can be turned in to an NFT.

They can also be patches of land in virtual world environments or exclusive of a cryptocurrency wallet name.

NFTs are important because enthusiast see it as the future of ownership. For the artistes, it could solve their problem of how to monetize their digital artworks.

This feature will enable people to track and showcase their NFT ownership on Twitter.

In an effort to grow spaces, Twitter will launch a creator to provide financial, technical and marketing support to users who host recurring audio programming on spaces.

With such support, it will allow more spaces hosts to organise better conversations and potentially gain brand sponsorship deals.

Twitter added that it is exploring how to allow users to filter out certain words they do not want to see in the replies to their tweets, which could be used to stop name-calling or abusive speech.

Brave and Splinterlands Announce Partnership

Splinterlands, the most played game on blockchain, and Brave, makers of the innovative Brave browser which combines privacy with the BAT (Basic Attention Token) blockchain-based digital advertising platform, are excited to announce a new partnership. Brave and Splinterlands both share a similar mission of rewarding users for their time and attention as well as increasing user privacy and freedom, and are looking forward to working together to spread those goals.

Going forward, the Brave browser will be the official browser of Splinterlands. The companies will educate players about the many benefits that the Brave browser provides and strongly encourage that all players use it not only to play Splinterlands, but for all of their Web browsing needs.

Additionally, Splinterlands will allow users to spend their BAT (Basic Attention Tokens) directly in the game to purchase Credits, which can be used to buy booster packs and other items in the shop or to buy cards from other players on the market. Players using the Brave browser can opt in to view privacy-preserving ads and in turn be rewarded in BAT via Brave Rewards, which they can then redeem in Splinterlands!

Brave will also begin promoting Splinterlands to their audience of over 19 million monthly active users through their various advertising and promotional channels. Splinterlands looks forward to welcoming the Brave community to a rich world of magic and mayhem and introducing them to the fun and rewarding experience of blockchain-based gaming!

Built-In Crypto Wallet

The Brave browser features a  built-in Crypto Wallet for transacting directly with the Ethereum blockchain. You can import your existing Ethereum wallets, connect a Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet, or create a new wallet right in the browser to interact directly with Splinterlands.

Splinterlands players can use the Brave Crypto Wallet to log in to the game, make payments with ETH or other Ethereum-based tokens, and even manage their wrapped Dark Energy Crystal (DEC) token balances in order to participate in the recently launched ETH-DEC Uniswap pool which offers some amazing rewards to liquidity providers!

About Brave and BAT

Brave Software’s fast, privacy-oriented browser, combined with its blockchain-based digital advertising platform, is reinventing the Web for users, publishers and advertisers. Users get a private, speedier Web experience with much longer battery life, publishers increase their revenue share, and advertisers achieve better conversion. Users can opt into privacy-respecting ads that reward them with BAT, an ERC20 token built on top of Ethereum, which they can redeem or use to tip or contribute to publishers and other content creators. The Brave solution is a win-win for everyone who has a stake in the open Web and who is weary of giving up privacy and revenue to the ad-tech intermediaries. Brave currently has over 19 million monthly active users and over 950,000 Verified Publishers. Brave Software was co-founded by Brendan Eich, creator of JavaScript and co-founder of Mozilla (Firefox), and Brian Bondy, formerly of Khan Academy and Mozilla. Learn more at https://brave.com/ and https://basicattentiontoken.org/

About Splinterlands

Splinterlands is a trading card game built using blockchain technology that enables users to play anytime, trade anytime, and earn every win. Players compete for a limited reward pool of the Splinterlands in-game cryptocurrency token called Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) as well as provably scarce and valuable NFTs from daily quests and bi-weekly season rewards. Battle for glory and riches or passively rent out your cards. The greatness of the Splinterlands awaits.

Japanese Users now can Earn BAT token

BitFlyer and Brave partnership enables Japanese users to earn BAT token by watching ads on Brave browser.

Japanese users will soon be able to earn Basic Attention Token by viewing Brave ads.

On July 30, major Japanese cryptocurrency exchange BitFlyer partnered with Brave Software International SEZC, a subsidiary of Brave Software — the maker of the crypto-enabled browser Brave.

Within the partnership, the firms co-developed a crypto asset wallet in the Brave browser that allows Japanese users to receive BAT for viewing Brave ads. Japanese Brave users will also be able to buy or sell BAT on BitFlyer as well as tip BAT to publishers and content creators.

While several exchanges in Japan support BAT — including BitFlyer — current regulations block users in the country from earnering BAT by viewing ads.

Instead, Japanese users can earn BAT Points, but these can’t be exchanged to BAT, other cryptocurrencies or even the Japanese yen.

Speaking to Cointelegraph, BitFlyer explained that the new wallet will allow users to receive BAT, as the exchange is already a regulated entity in Japan.

Earlier this month, BitFlyer and Brave initially announced that they would develop “a crypto asset wallet for Brave browser users.”

According to today’s announcement, the new crypto wallet is called “the Integrated Wallet” and is expected to roll out in November 2020.

Kumihiro Mine, president of BitFlyer, said the partnership would “serve as a model case for new possibilities for cryptocurrency, not just as an investment option.”

“Even those who have not been exposed to cryptocurrency will feel more familiar with them by increasing the opportunities to own and use cryptocurrency through the Brave browser,” he said.

Telegram update-Profile Videos, 2 GB File Sharing, Group Stats and More

Introducing Profile Videos, Improved People Nearby, 2 GB File Sharing and More

Today’s update brings Profile Videos along with improved People Nearby features, unlimited file sharing with up to 2 Gigabytes per file, mini-thumbnails for your chat list and notifications, group stats, and much more.

Profile Videos

You can now upload a video to your profile – and choose any frame you like for your static profile picture in chats. Capture yourself in action, or wink and wave at people like you’re in a magical picture from Harry Potter.

Same as with any videos you upload, our media editor will help you enhance quality – or decorate yourself with animated stickers.

As your mood changes, you can quickly switch back to a previous profile photo or video by tapping ‘Set as Main’. Great for rewinding time and staying young forever.

Soften Skin

Speaking of the media editor, any photo or video you take with the front-facing camera now has a soften skin option in the media editor. But you don’t need it to look fabulous, you already are fabulous.

Improved People Nearby

Profile videos make meeting new people a dozen times more interesting, and we’ve beefed up the People Nearby section for the occasion.

When people contact you via the People Nearby section, you will see how far away they are. And when you start a chat with someone nearby, Telegram will suggest a greeting sticker to break the ice. Luckily, all our stickers are extroverts.

Improved People Nearby

Now that people are carefully emerging into this brave new world, it’s time to make friends and repopulate the earth compare your sticker collections. Head over to Contacts > Find People Nearby and try tapping on ’Make myself visible’.

Mini-thumbnails

Ever wondered whether the incoming picture is just another meme or that selfie you’ve been waiting for? Get an idea of what media is in a message right away thanks to the new chat list thumbnails.

Mini-thumbnails in the chat list

The new thumbnails also appear in notifications and message search results. Never lose a cat photo again.

Speaking of previews, you can hold on a profile picture in the chat list to preview messages without opening the chat. This feature is from 2018, but we had a dream in which a talking squid told us to mention it here.

Filter New Chats from Non-Contacts

Thanks to People Nearby and groups with up to 200,000 members, you can always find someone to chat with. Public figures sometimes have the opposite problem and may wish to tone down the attention they receive — we’ve got this covered too.

If you’re getting too many messages from non-contacts, try the new switch in Privacy & Security settings to automatically archive and mute new chats from people not in your contacts. You can access these chats anytime from the Archive folder and bring them back to the main chat list in a tap.

Group Stats

Owners of large groups with over 500 members can now view beautiful, detailed graphs about their activity and growth. Group stats also show a list of top members by number of messages and average message length.

By the way, the minimum number of subscribers to get Channel Stats has been reduced to 500 as well. 🎉 We’re planning to roll out access to group stats for admins of all groups with 100 members or more in the near future.

Android Extras

On Android, the music player has been redesigned with sleek new icons and an expandable track list. Tap the button on the left to control looping, shuffling and to reverse the track order so your playlist can moonwalk with you.

The message input bar will grow smoothly as you type a long message. And the video editor now allows cropping and rotating videos – to help you hide any evidence you were filming vertically.

Multiple Accounts on Telegram Desktop

Telegram lets you stay signed in on 3 accounts from different phone numbers without logging out. Our mobile users have been enjoying this feature since 2017, and today it’s coming to the multi-platform Telegram Desktop.

As always, this doesn’t require an active connection to your phone – all our apps are completely self-sufficient.

More Animated Emoji

Our animated emoji army keeps growing (note to self: build a bigger barracks). To get one of these 👇 in a chat, simply send a message with a single emoji – and watch it jump to life.

Be careful, one of them bites. And we’re not allowed to tell you which one.

If you’re looking for something more interactive, try sending a single ⚽️ in any chat to see if you score a goal:

And One More Thing

Since 2014, Telegram users have been sharing files up to 1,5 GB each, which happens to be 93 times larger than 16 MB (which is a totally random number, we have no idea what it could possibly mean).

From now on, you can send unlimited numbers of media and files of any kind – up to 2 GB each.

And that‘s it for today. We’re now in the middle of the year — with eight major updates behind us and long-awaited features just around the corner. Stay tuned!

Binance Referral Program Upgrade: Invite Friends. Earn Crypto Together.

Fellow Binancians,

Binance has upgraded our Referral Program! Invite Friends. Earn Crypto Together.

Friends share. With the new Binance Referral program, give your friends a discount on trading fees when they sign up using your referral link (Invite Now).

Rules:

Inviters can now choose to share a portion of the commissions received from the trading fees of the friends they invite, as a “kickback”. Inviters can set the sharing rates as follows:

  • If the inviter’s daily average BNB account balance is less than 500 BNB and their base referral rate is 20%, they can choose to share 0%, 5% or 10% with the friends they invite.
  • If the inviter’s daily average BNB account balance is 500 BNB or more, their base referral rate is increased to 40%, and they can choose to share 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% or 20% with the friends they invite.

Details:

  • All referral commissions (both those received by inviters and those shared with their invited friends) are calculated in real-time and transferred to the respective Binance accounts every hour.
  • The settlement assets of referral commissions are the same as the commission fee generated by the actual transaction of the invited friend (invitee). If the invitee uses the BNB deduction fee, the settlement assets of referral commissions and referral commissions returned are BNB.
  • Referral rates are calculated at 0:00 AM every day and updated at 1:00 AM (UTC)
  • In order for an invited friend to receive a kickback, they must register using the corresponding referral link (or QR code Or Referral ID). If they register using the old referral ID code of the person who invited them, instead of via the link, they will not receive any of the commission fee kickback offered to them by their inviter.
  • There is no limit to the number of friends a single account can invite.
  • If the inviter’s daily average BNB balance is less than 500 BNB, their base referral rate will be reduced from 40% to 20%. At this time, the percentage allotted to the invited friend will be given priority, and his/her rate will remain unchanged. For instance, if the inviter’s referral rate is reduced to 20% at this time, the invited friend will continue to maintain a 15% return rate, and the inviter’s referral rate will be reduced to 5%.
  • Sub-accounts and margin accounts will take on the same percentage rules that apply to the spot account. For instance, the inviter will benefit from the referring of the invited friend’s sub-account and margin account. The invited friend’s sub-account and margin account will also enjoy the same rate he/she would get for a spot account. In the current set-up, the referral rate for the invited friend will be directly settled to the corresponding sub-account or margin account;
  • Binance may adjust the proportion of referrals at any point and reserves the right to adjust the rules of the referral program.
  • Binance does not allow any user to self-invite through multiple accounts. Upon such activity has been detected, all referrals will be cancelled and all referral commission kickbacks for the invitee’s accounts will be cancelled.
  • Additional guidelines for cancelling the referral.

Important Notice:

Binance reserves the right to change the terms of the referral program at any time due to changing market conditions, risk of fraud, or any other factors we deem relevant.

Thanks for your support!

Gemini Integrates with Brave for Trading and Wallet Support

We are excited to announce that Gemini and Brave have partnered to make it easier for users to buy, sell, store, and earn crypto when using the Brave browser. This integration allows users of the Brave browser to engage with crypto via the new Gemini Trading Widget in a simple and secure manner. The Gemini Trading Widget is now available in Brave’s Nightly version, and will go live in Brave’s general release in the coming weeks.

Brave provides users with a better Internet experience by giving them back their privacy. The Brave browser blocks ads and trackers and other identifying software used by websites to monitor visitors. This provides a faster (3-6x) and more private Internet experience. Brave users can also earn Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) by opting in to view privacy-preserving Brave ads. Online creators can earn BAT from Brave users via Brave Rewards by publishing great content across a range of platforms including YouTube, Twitter, Vimeo, Github, Twitch, or their own website.

The Gemini Trading Widget is integrated in the Brave browser New Tab page.

Starting today, users of Brave’s Nightly version can access the Gemini Trading Widget (the “Gemini card”) from the Brave browser New Tab page to seamlessly trade any crypto asset listed on the Gemini Exchange, as well as view their Gemini account balances and access their deposit addresses – all without ever leaving the Brave browser ecosystem.

Brave users can seamlessly trade any crypto asset listed on the Gemini Exchange, as well as view their Gemini account balances and access their deposit addresses:

In addition, Brave-verified content creators can custody their digital assets in a Gemini Creator Wallet. That means Brave creators can receive their BAT payments into their Gemini Creator Wallet, or in any other fiat or crypto asset supported on Gemini’s Exchange. Gemini is a New York-based Trust company regulated by the New York State Department of Finance, and available in all U.S. states except Hawaii. For the first time, Brave Creators registered in New York can now benefit from the Gemini-Brave integration and utilize the Creator wallet to claim their BAT.

How to Use the Gemini Trading Widget

  1. From the Brave New Tab page, open the Gemini Trading Widget or select “Add Card” and choose Gemini if it’s not currently active.
  2. Then select “Connect to Gemini”. This will prompt you to sign in with your Gemini credentials or create an account if you don’t have one.

How to Link Your Gemini Creator Wallet

  1. From the Brave browser, register or login to your creator account at https://creators.brave.com/.
  2. Follow the prompts under “Wallet Services” to connect your Brave Creator account to Gemini. If you don’t have a Gemini account yet, the connection process will prompt you to create one.

Learn more about the Gemini integration within the Brave browser and stay tuned for more exciting announcements around our broader partnership in the near future.

Brave partners with NYIAX, the first futures trading marketplace for digital ad contracts

Brave, Basic Attention Token, NYIAX

Connecting users & advertisers utilizing blockchain & privacy. With CCPA enforcement into effect, advertisers can reserve inventory without tracking.

San Francisco, CA and New York, NY – July 9, 2020 Brave Software, makers of the innovative Brave browser which combines privacy with a blockchain-based digital advertising platform, and NYIAX, the world’s first and most active upfronts marketplace and advanced contract management exchange by volume and users, today announced a first-of-its kind partnership that will enable advertisers to connect with consumers in a way that prioritizes personal choice and respects new privacy legislation.

Under the terms of the partnership, ad contract traders in NYIAX’s upfront marketplace are now able to reserve or buy future inventory options that guarantee their brand advertisements reach only Brave users who have opted in to see the promotions and receive rewards via Brave’s Basic Attention Token system.

Making Brave’s inventory available on NYIAX’s platform provides Brave with incremental revenue opportunities and the ability to strike guaranteed upfront deals with NYIAX’s buyer partners, as well as a year-round lead as they compete for the best brand partnerships. What’s unique about Brave’s model is consumers are rewarded for their attention, providing consumers the ability to prioritize preferences and opt into privacy-respecting ads based on their own personal interest.
